Indian Summer is a song by the American rock band The Doors .

The lyrics of the song are by Jim Morrison , the music by Morrison and Robby Krieger , the recording was produced by Paul A. Rothchild . Morrison composed the song in 1965 and dedicated it to Pamela Courson.

history

Indian Summer was recorded on September 2, 1965, but was not used on the demo record. In August 1966 the song was then re-recorded. It wasn't released until 1970 on the Morrison Hotel album.

The song was inspired by a car accident in the desert that Jim Morrison had in the age of four while his family was on their way to New Mexico. A Native American family was injured and possibly killed.

The song was never played live by the Doors.
