Indiana Horst

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indiana Horst is a radio play persiflage based on Indiana Jones . It was produced by musicART on behalf of Süddeutscher Rundfunk and broadcast on the radio station SDR 3 in 1994/95. It tells the story of Indiana Horst, the greatest adventurer of all time, in a retrospective by the two ancient scholars Dr. Harrison and Dr. Ford, who in 2036 found its audio diaries under the rubble of Stuttgart . Indiana Horst is an archaeologist at a Stuttgart museum and "on the road with loads of Kentucky Bourbon to destroy ideal worlds and shed light on dark conspiracies."

The content

The radio play is primarily characterized by a breathless narrative style in combination with a plot pervaded by numerous breaks and jumps. In this plot, allusions to prominent elements of the current political and media landscape (in particular Norbert Blüm and Raumschiff Enterprise ) as well as important events in contemporary history (rising unemployment, conflict between democracy and fanaticism) with completely fictitious events (Klingon occupation of Böblingen ) are included in a framework plot woven into a more or less coherent story.

The characters

  • Dr. Indiana Horst - archaeologist of a Stuttgart museum and protagonist who, with the help of the stamp of death, solves almost all problems that he encounters on his various adventures. The topics dealt with in the incoherent episodes are historical (where did the Amber Room go?) And sociopolitical (increased diets and dental prosthesis supplements) but mainly contemporary and societal (reference to films, etc.). His statement at the end of (almost) every episode is characteristic: "If only I had learned something decent."
  • The secretary - she accompanies Dr. Horst partly through the episodes, but mostly it only appears at the beginning and towards the end, e.g. B. to comment on the event. As a running gag , her tights are damaged in various ways in every episode.
  • Dr. Harrison and Dr. Ford - Two scientists from Neu-Stuttgart, who discover Horst's notes and present them to the public, only appear on the first CD "Horst is enough" to frame the incoherent episodes. They are not related to Indiana Horst or his adventures.
