The Indianapolis Tennis Center (until 1992 or 1993 Indianapolis Sports Center ) was a tennis complex in Indianapolis , United States , which was built in 1979 on the grounds of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and whose main court had a capacity of 10,000 seats. Initially, the facility consisted exclusively of 18 clay courts, of which 14 were later converted into hard courts. In 2009 there were 16 outdoor courts, two of which were clay courts and six indoor courts. In 2010 the facility was demolished.

In 1987 the tennis competitions of the Pan American Games took place here. In the 1980s, pop musicians such as the Grateful Dead , Jimmy Buffett , Elton John , Tom Petty , Donna Summer , James Taylor , Stevie Ray Vaughan and Billy Idol performed . In 1999 the first Indy Jazz Festival was held here. The Indianapolis Tennis Championships have been held here since 1988, most recently a men's tennis tournament in the 250 category of the ATP World Tour .
