Indigenous peoples in Namibia

As Indigenous Peoples in Namibia ( English indigenous people ) are historically in the area due to government statement Namibia present ethnicities , as hunter-gatherers , referred lived. There is no clear definition in Namibia either, or internationally. In order to clarify the question of indigenous peoples in Namibia, the ombudsman focuses primarily on the Endorois case from Kenya and the declaration issued by the African Commission .

All indigenous peoples of Namibia enjoy the protection of international agreements and rights as well as general and special rights based on Namibian laws. Since 2005, the San in particular have received state funding through the San Development Program .

According to the ombudsman and the office of the vice-president , which is responsible for promoting underprivileged ethnic groups (English marginalized communities ), the following ethnic groups and clans are considered indigenous in Namibia :

The International Group for Indigenous Affairs Work (IWGIA) to be the Ovazemba and the Nama counted among the indigenous peoples of Namibia.
