The Indo-European Research (IF) is an international journal for Indo-European studies and general linguistics. The magazine was founded in 1892 by Karl Brugmann and Wilhelm Streitberg , until 2011 the editor Eckhard Eggers succeeded Wolfgang P. Schmid †; from 2012 the editors were Michael Meier-Brügger , Elisabeth Rieken and Paul Widmer . From 2015 Benjamin W. Fortson replaced Michael Meier-Brügger and Götz Keydana joined in 2017. The magazine is published by the Walter de Gruyter publishing house and is the second oldest international magazine for Indo-European studies and linguistics after “ Historical Linguistics ”.

“The Indo-European Research publishes articles (articles and reviews) mainly on historical-comparative linguistics, the history of language, typology and characteristics of the individual languages ​​of this group. In addition, articles from the field of general linguistics and that of the non-Indo-European languages ​​are included, provided they touch on the main topic of the journal in terms of method and linguistic history.
