Motor Coach Industries International Inc. (MCI) is a North American bus manufacturer based in Des Plaines , Illinois , United States .
history
The company was founded in 1933 in Winnipeg , the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba , by Harry Zoltok. Since 1941 the company has been called Motor Coach Industries . In 1948 Greyhound Canada took over 65% of the shares in MCI. Ten years later, Greyhound Canada also took over the remaining shares. In 1963, Pembina opened another production facility in North Dakota . From 1987 MCI belonged to the Dial Corp. In 1993 Dial sold Greyhound. In 1996, the company's headquarters were relocated to Des Plaines, where it remained until 2000 when it was relocated to Schaumburg . The seat was later moved back to Des Plaines. In 2012 Daimler took over a minority stake in MCI, since then MCI has been responsible for marketing Setra buses in North America. At the end of 2015, MCI was taken over by New Flyer Industries .
