Pembina is a small town (with the status " City ") in Pembina County in the US -amerikanischen State North Dakota . In 2010 Pembina had 592 inhabitants. Interstate 29 runs along the western outskirts of Pembina in a north-south direction and is the shortest connection from Winnipeg to Kansas City in Missouri . The US Highway 81 runs from the Canadian border in a southerly direction for a distance together with the I 29. The border crossing to Canada is located 5 km north of Pembina. On the northern edge of the city, the North Dakota Highway 59 runs in a west-east direction , which crosses the Red River in an easterly direction over a bridge towards Minnesota. There the name of the street changes to Minnesota State Route 171 . All other roads within the urban area are subordinate country roads, some unpaved roads and inner-city connecting roads.
