history

In 1929 Greyhound Canada was established as Canadian Greyhound Coache Ltd. with headquarters in Calgary. In 1935 the company was merged with Greyhound USA. In 1987 this merger was dissolved again after Greyhound Canada was sold in 1987. In 1991, new routes were added in the Greater Toronto Area. In addition, the vehicle fleet was expanded. In 1998 Greyhound Canada bought the competitor Voyageur Colonial Bus Lines from Quebec and shortly afterwards the takeover of Penetang-Midland Coach Lines , with which new connections in south-central Ontario were offered.

Routes

Timetable

Greyhound Canada operates scheduled lines in eight provinces and territories. These include the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Québec, Saskatchewan and the Yukon.

As of October 31, 2018, operations in all provinces with the exception of Ontario and Quebec as well as the USA - Canada connections will be discontinued for economic reasons.

Greyhound Canada mainly offers connections to the neighboring USA in US cities that are located relatively close to the border to Canada. These include New York City , Syracuse (New York) , Detroit and Seattle . Greyhound Lines is responsible as a partner for further connections in the USA.

  • Orléans Express
  • Acadiɐn Lines
  • Trailways of New York
  • Gray Goose Bus Lines (a subsidiary)
  • Saskatchewan Transportation Company
  • Edmonton Yellow Cab (Edmonton)
  • Gray Line Banff
  • Frontier Coach Lines, for Yellowknife , Fort Simpson and Fort Smith in the Northwest Territories

QuickLink

Neon

Connections between Toronto, Montreal and various cities in New York are offered under the NeOn brand (for New York and Ontario). The offer was originally launched as a competitor to Megabus and offered similar features (stops in the city center instead of bus stations, WiFi and sockets), comparable to Boltbus in the United States . NeOn is operated by Greyhound Canada in cooperation with Trailways of New York and Greyhound Lines . NeOn connections were later integrated into the normal timetable and do not differ from normal routes.
