Industrial technologist

Industrial technologist ( associate engineer ; formerly engineering assistant ) is the term used for technical vocational training with a state-recognized professional qualification.

The training lasts two years and takes place in different subjects, e.g. B. data technology, communications technology, automation technology, drive technology, energy technology and mechanical engineering.

Achievements of the training period can be recognized by corresponding credit points at cooperating universities of applied sciences . This means that further qualification to a Bachelor's degree is possible within two years.

The field of application of industrial technologists extends z. B. over the entire product life cycle (development, sales, planning, project planning, commissioning, maintenance) of industrial plants, power plants as well as medical and traffic engineering systems.

The school requirement is a general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or a technical college entrance qualification ( technical training).

The training took place at the Siemens technology academies in Erlangen, Munich and Berlin. In 2016, the training was converted into a combination of training as an associate engineer with the IHK training as an IT specialist or associate engineer with the IHK training as an electronics technician for automation technology.
