organization

In addition to the annual general meeting, the board and the departments are the leading bodies of the association. The executive committee is responsible for the management of the association and the implementation of the resolutions of the general assembly. Statutory organs of the association are the general assembly, the board of directors, the advisory board, the departments and the technical committee as well as the management. The association currently has six departments:

  • Healthcare department
  • Building cleaning department
  • Commercial kitchen hygiene department
  • Food production and processing department
  • Metal industry and technical cleaning department
  • Laundry technology department

The association's work is coordinated by a full-time managing director and a full-time press officer. Alfred Stöhr, Ecolab Deutschland GmbH, Monheim, took over the chairmanship of the association on January 1, 2015.

Members

The association mainly represents small and medium-sized companies in an industry that is of great importance to society due to its services in the field of cleaning, disinfection and care in professional applications, for example in consumer protection. As of January 1, 2016, the association had 54 member companies. The members of the association represent around 92% of the turnover in a market with a size, based on Germany, of around 1 billion euros. Around 5,900 people are employed at the relevant Mart.

Umbrella organization

The IHO works with the Association of the Chemical Industry (VCI) in the areas of law, dangerous goods, plant safety and the Chemicals Act. He is entitled to all services of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI) and the European Chemical Association CEFIC , to which the VCI is a member. The IHO also works with the international association AISE on cross-border issues.

Positions

The association has pointed out in repeated statements that European legislation, in particular Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 (Biocide Regulation) , imposes high registration and approval fees on member companies through the European Chemicals Agency ( ECHA ) and the national authorities . As a result, it is expected that, for economic reasons, a large number of active ingredients will no longer receive regulatory support and the products based on them will have to be withdrawn from the market. The association sees a danger that the protection of people will have to subside in relation to environmental protection. From the point of view of the industry, the use of disinfectants is also essential prophylactically to prevent the spread of dangerous germs such as EHEC or multi-resistant hospital germs .

Publications

The association publishes a detailed annual report with information on the association and market developments.

The association also publishes the IHO disinfectant list, which provides users with guidance.

The association also publishes the series “Disinfection done right - disinfectants used specifically and efficiently”, which it also offers for free download.
