Ines Thomsen

Ines Thomsen (* 1975 in Pinneberg ) is a German camerawoman , director and screenwriter .

Professional development

Thomsen was active as a camera assistant in Auckland ( New Zealand ) and Berlin . From 1997 to 2004 she studied camera at the University of Film and Television “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg with a diploma. In 2000/2001 she studied for a year at the ESCAC film school in Barcelona ( DAAD annual scholarship). During her studies, Thomsen was nominated for the German Camera Prize in 2000 with “sportfrei”. For her directorial debut, the documentary film Mañana al Mar (director and camera), she received the Prix Europa and the documentary film prize of the Max Ophüls film festival in 2006 . In 2010 the feature film "Todos vós sodes capitáns" (director: Oliver Laxe), which she photographed, received the Fipresci Prize in Cannes. In 2015 she received the new berlin film award for the documentary film “Ein Paragei im Eiscafé” (director and camera) - Best Documentary at the 11th achtung berlin Film Festival and first prize at the 19th Schleswig-Holstein Film Festival.

In 2017/18 she was a scholarship holder of the Young Academy of the Academy of Arts. She is a member of the German Film Academy.

Awards
