The Infantry Division Köslin (also Pomeranian Division ) was a German infantry division of the Army in World War II , based in Köslin in Wehrkreis II .

Division history

The division was set up on January 20, 1945 near Köslin in Pomerania as a "Gneisenau unit" to fill the position in Pomerania . For this purpose, the Karnkewitz and Jatzingen regiments available nearby (mainly consisting of Volkssturm battalions), as well as training units from the Waffen SS Unterführerschule Lauenburg and remnants of other units were brought together. The division was later put together as two divisional regiments "Köslin", each with two battalions and one artillery battalion "Köslin", formed from the former artillery department Grütz (n) er.

In February 1945 the unit was transferred to the front to Army Group Vistula and transferred there to the Pomerania Division . On March 12, after the defensive battle for the Dievenower bridgehead, a large part of the former members of the division had been killed or prisoner of war.
