Inge Kükelhan

Inge Kükelhan (born August 3, 1939 - † May 29, 2011 ) was a German local politician ( SPD ).

Career

Kükelhan joined the SPD in 1972. From 1981 to 2006 she was a member of the district council of the Braunschweig district of Veltenhof-Rühme , of which she was district mayor for 20 years. In the mid-1980s she also moved to the city council of Braunschweig . From 2001 until her death she was mayor of the city of Braunschweig.

In 1992 she took over the honorary chairmanship of the cancer aftercare association and expanded its advice center into one of the largest in Lower Saxony.

Honors

In 2008 she was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for her political and social commitment .
