Inge Kralupper

Inge Kralupper (born October 9, 1966 in Waidhofen an der Thaya ; † August 3, 2016 ) was an Austrian manager in the book trade .

life and work

Inge Kralupper was born in 1966 in the Lower Austrian municipality of Waidhofen an der Thaya and studied commercial science at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . During and after her studies, she worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), then she was employed as an assistant to the management at the Heidelberg press sales organization ACADEMIA-PRESS . In 1997 she moved to the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade (HVB); From the following year until her death, she worked there as managing director. She died in 2016 at the age of 49 after a brief, serious illness.

Inge Kralupper has significantly influenced the Austrian book trade. She was involved in the drafting and enforcement of the Austrian Book Price Fixing Act , the co-organization of the European Literature Prize and the founding and establishment of BUCH WIEN , which first took place in 2008. She was also heavily involved in maintaining strong European copyright law and maintaining the reduced VAT rate for books.
