Ingelore Buchholz

Ingelore Buchholz (born October 26, 1936 in Magdeburg ; † July 21, 2006 there ) was director of the Magdeburg City Archives from 1964 to 2001 and the author of regional history articles.

After graduating from high school, Buchholz studied history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in the 1950s .

On February 1, 1959, she began working in the Magdeburg City Archives, of which she became director five years later. In the 1970s she also completed a correspondence course in archival sciences with Botho Brachmann as a qualified archivist . She was a member of the SED . During the time she was in charge, she made the archives accessible to the public through organization and cataloging work. In the last two years of service, she compiled an inventory of the archive, which was published in 2002. On November 1, 2001, she retired. She lived in the Magdeburg district of Westerhüsen at Sohlener Strasse 140 . After a serious illness, she died in 2006 and was buried in the Westerhüsen cemetery.

Act

Buchholz and her archive staff published various books, writings and articles, primarily on the history of the city of Magdeburg. Topics were e.g. B. the streets and street names of Magdeburg's old town and the work of Magdeburg's mayor. In 1975 and 1977 she was a member of the editorial board of the 1st and 2nd edition of the "History of the City of Magdeburg" . Buchholz was also one of the authors of the "Magdeburg Biographical Lexicon s " published in 2002 .

She actively participated in the preparations for the 1200th anniversary of Magdeburg in 2005. She worked for this in the “Urban History Working Group” and was one of the authors of the “ Magdeburg. The History of the City 805 - 2005 ”.

Her last work was a map series " Magdeburg in Views, Maps and Plans ", which, however, only appeared after her death.
