Ingemar Johansson (athlete)

Ingemar Johansson ( Bror Ingemar Ture Johansson ; born April 25, 1924 in Hagfors , † April 18, 2009 in Värmskog ) was a Swedish walker .

From 1946 to 1948 he was the Swedish 10-kilometer walking champion. In 1947 he set his personal best in 45: 00.0 minutes. At the Olympic Games in London in 1948, Werner Hardmo , who set the current world record in 1945, John Mikaelsson and Johansson, all three Swedish walkers qualified for the final. Hardmo was disqualified in the final, Mikaelsson won with half a minute ahead of Johansson, who in turn reached the finish with 16 seconds ahead of third-placed Swiss Fritz Schwab .

Two years after London, Johansson gave up at the European Athletics Championships in Brussels in 1950 . In 1951 he won the Swedish championship again.
