Engineering pedagogue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Engineering pedagogues teach at vocational schools as teachers for technology-specific lessons. The prerequisite is study at a university and the successful 2nd state examination as the conclusion of the 18-month preparatory service. In addition, subject teachers teach at vocational schools who are used in practical vocational classes. These have a degree as a master craftsman or technician and, like the teachers with studies, complete a preparatory service with a final exam. In contrast to the student councils, they are not assigned to the higher service (level A13), but to the higher service (level A9).

In most cases, the course consists of a technical main subject and vocational pedagogy, although a second theoretical subject usually has to be studied.

With successful completion of the course, the final degree of Diplom-Ingenieur-Päd. (Abbreviated: Dipl.-Ing.-Päd.) Was previously awarded. (see list of academic degrees (Germany) ) Today, almost all German universities graduate with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree.

This is followed by either the preparatory service for teaching at vocational schools or another activity that complies with the qualification. (see career prospects)
