The entrance to Ingleborough Cave

The Ingleborough Cave is a cave in Ingleborough Mountain in North Yorkshire , England .

The cave was largely submerged by a natural dam until 1837. As a result of a flood, this dam broke and made a stalactite cave accessible. Today 500 m of the cave are accessible as a show cave . Behind the show cave there is a cave system that has a proven connection to the Gaping Gill cave. Water flowing from Fell Beck into Gaping Gill Cave resurfaces at Ingleborough Cave and becomes Clapham Beck .
