The Ingmar Bergman Foundation ( Stiftelsen Ingmar Bergman ) is a Swedish foundation in memory of the Swedish film and theater director and author Ingmar Bergman . The foundation was set up in 2002 by the Swedish Film Institute , the Royal Dramatic Theater , the Svensk Filmindustri film company and the television channel Sveriges Television .

The purpose of the Stockholm- based foundation is to disseminate and continue knowledge about Ingmar Bergman and his artistic work. Knowledge of Bergman's work is intended to promote interest in Swedish film and Swedish culture. The foundation exploits the theater rights to Bergman's works.

The foundation stone was laid by donating Bergman's private archive with the scripts and working material for 18 films. He later donated additional material to the foundation. The Foundation's archive has been included in the UNESCO World Document Heritage list since 2007 .

Jan Holmberg has been the managing director since 2010. The chairman of the foundation has been Jan-Erik Billinger since 2012.
