Ingo K. Richter

Ingo K. Richter (born January 27, 1938 in Pollnow , Pomerania ) is a German legal scholar with a focus on questions of educational law.

Ingo Richter studied law from 1957 to 1962 at the Universities of Göttingen , Munich , Hamburg and Paris . He received his doctorate as Dr. iur. He graduated from the University of Hamburg in 1965 and obtained his doctorate de l´Université de Paris in 1966. He passed the two state law exams in Hamburg (1961) and Berlin (1967).

From 1963 to 1965 he was secretary of the German Committee for Education in Bonn and from 1965 to 1975 he was an employee and department head at the Max Planck Institute for Educational Research in Berlin. He was Professor of Public Law at the Free University of Berlin from 1975 to 1979 and at the University of Hamburg from 1979 to 1993.

Ingo Richter is visiting professor at Stanford (1972/73 and 1982/83), at Smith College (1986), at the University of Bordeaux (1990), at the Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco (1991) and at the University of Chicago ( 1992) perceived. From 1993 to 2002 Ingo Richter was a board member and director of the German Youth Institute in Munich. He has headed the Irmgard Coninx Foundation at the Berlin Science Center since 2002 and is an honorary professor at the University of Tübingen and co-editor of the magazine “Recht der Jugend und des Bildungswesens”.

Richter is married to Sabine Richter-Ellermann, with whom he has two children.
