Ingrid Brandstetter

Ingrid Brandstetter (* 1943 in Schiltern , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian artist .

Life

Ingrid Brandstetter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Christian Ludwig Martin and Maximilian Melcher in the master class for painting and graphics. The artist lives and works in Schönberg am Kamp .

As a Melcher student, Ingrid Brandstetter comes from the tradition of figural painting. Her works, mainly oil paintings and watercolors, show still lifes in the early years, sometimes landscapes, but soon the focus is on people in various interiors. In the early 1980s, her works became increasingly abstract, a development that she has taken back in the paintings of recent years in the direction of a more realistic painting style. Color and light play an important role: "Without the play of light and shadow and the resulting color modulations, my women ... would not have a credible existence."
