Ingrid Scharlau

Ingrid Scharlau (born July 28, 1967 in Bonn ) is a German professor for cognitive psychology at the University of Paderborn .

Career

Scharlau studied psychology, philosophy and German literature at Bielefeld University from 1986 to 1992 . From 1993 to 1994 she was a research assistant at the IZHD (Interdisciplinary Center for University Didactics) at Bielefeld University. In 1996 he received his doctorate with the subjects of education, philosophy and cognitive psychology at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Until 2004 she continued to work as a freelancer at the IZHD on the preparation of evaluation reports for German universities and technical colleges. From February 1999 to September 2006 she also worked as a research assistant in the DFG project “Cognitive Effects of Masked Stimuli in the Paradigm of Metacontrast Dissociation” under the direction of Odmar Neumann at the Department of Psychology at Bielefeld University. In December 2005 , Scharlau completed his habilitation in Bielefeld and received the venia legendi for psychology. From 2007 to 2012 and again since 2015 she has been Professor of Cognitive Psychology at the University of Paderborn . From 2012 to 2015 she was professor of psychology at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg.

Scharlau is the eldest daughter of the mathematician Winfried Scharlau .

Work areas

Scharlau deals with experimental methods on general psychological questions in the areas of attention, awareness and action control. The main topics are educational psychology, history and basics of psychology as well as musical practice and musical ideas.
