Ingrid Schulerud (born July 8, 1959 ) is a Norwegian diplomat . She has been the Norwegian ambassador in Brussels since 2015 .

Life

Schulerud started working in the Norwegian field in 1988. Between 2002 and 2005 she was a senior advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , then head of department until 2007, before being a senior advisor again until 2011. From 2011 to 2015 she was technical director in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was responsible for the European Economic Area (EEA) department.

After her husband Jens Stoltenberg became NATO Secretary General in Brussels, she applied for the post of Norwegian ambassador to Belgium in autumn 2014. In April 2015, the Norwegian government announced that it would get the post.

She has two children with her husband Jens Stoltenberg, whom she married in 1987. Schulerud is the daughter of the writer Mentz Schulerud and thus the niece of the author Anne-Catharina Vestly .
