After Switzerland ( Weinfelden and Zurich ) withdrew from hosting the World Championships , Haining in China became the new venue. The competitions were held from September 16 to 27. China People's RepublicPeople's Republic of China

The most successful participants were Jercy Puello with five gold medals for women and Joey Mantia with seven gold medals for men. The best German participant Sabine Berg won a total of three gold medals.
