Akihisa Inoue

Akihisa Inoue ( Japanese 井上 明 久 , Inoue Akihisa ; born September 13, 1947 in Himeji , Hyōgo Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese physicist .

Inoue's research areas are in the field of materials science , especially in the field of metallic glass . The first amorphous steels were discovered by Inoue at Tōhoku University in Japan and reached thicknesses of one to two millimeters.

Career

Inoue studied materials science at Tōhoku University and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1972 . In 1975 he received his doctorate to the Doctor of Engineering ( kōgaku hakushi ) . After his doctorate, he stayed as a research assistant at the Institute for Materials Research ( 金属 材料 研究所 , kinzoku zairyū kenkyūsho ) of Tōhoku University, was Associate Professor in 1985 and Full Professor at the same institute in 1990. Since April 2000 he has also been Director of the Institute for Materials Research .

Inoue has been a scientific advisor to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology since April 2001 .
