Insha Allah Khan

Insha Allah Khan (* 1756 ; † 1818 ) was an Indian poet.

life and work

Born the son of a Muslim servant at the court of Murshidabad , he spent most of his life as an Urdu poet at the courts of Lucknow and Delhi . His best known work is "Rani Ketki ki Kahani" (The Story of Queen Ketki), which he published in 1803. Although he wrote the narrative in Nastaliq , it is considered the first prose text in Hindi . Insha Allah Khan deliberately avoided the use of words of Persian and Arabic origin in his text.
