Enrollment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under enrollment (from Latin inscriptio , in the sense, registration, inscription, inscription ') is understood in Austria that for each semester required registration as a listener for a particular study (or multiple studies) at a university . Only those students who have been continuously enrolled at this university since the beginning of their studies can enroll (including the first-time enrollment students).

Enrollment takes place at a specific university, individual courses of study are enrolled, i.e. semesters of a course , and you can also put together your own curriculum ( study irregular , individual study IS): Enrolling means specifying exactly which courses you are going to attend in this semester intends to visit. This helps the university in planning whether a larger lecture hall has to be chosen, or whether a course is split due to too many participants or canceled due to a lack of participants.

Did you look for a certain fixed degree program ( curriculum decided), the inscription of the now mostly done by paying tuition fees or the student union automatically -Beitrags. You then only have to enroll explicitly when changing studies or with regard to various elective and supplementary offers.

In the past, not enrolling for several semesters usually led to automatic de- registration (deregistration from the university), but this led to the automatic expiry of all successfully completed courses (certificates) that were not completed with a full title ( Magister , Doctor), i.e. a dropout . Today it is customary to allow a later resumption of studies. It is not usual to explicitly "exclude", that is, to withdraw from a course.
