Insomnia (Club)
The Club Insomnia is a nightclub in Berlin . The operators call it a "hedonistic nightclub" and it is supposed to recreate a mixture of Roman orgies and Studio 54 in New York City . It belongs to the erotic contemporary subculture and, in addition to entertainment, is also a forum for artists with erotic topics, for shows, exhibitions by painters, photographers and erotic readings.
Only those who adapt to the dress code "Sexy - Fetish - Elegant evening wear" will be admitted. The club is also politically and socially committed by participating in the CSD and organizing benefit parties, e.g. B. in favor of Terre des Femmes on the International Day against Female Genital Mutilation , help for Japan etc.

History of the club
Inspired by the song Insomnia (lat. "Insomnia") by the British music group Faithless , Dominique and DJ Clark Kent called their new party series Insomnia Events . The first Insomnia party took place in March 1996 in the KitKatClub Berlin, from 1999 Dominique Insomnia continued to run the parties alone. After 10 years as an external organizer in the KitKatClub, she decided to establish her own club. The Insomnia was opened on February 17, 2006.
History of the house
The residential and commercial building "Zum Kurfürst" at the corner of Alt-Tempelhof 17/19 and Tempelhofer Damm 145/147, which was built by Carl and Emil Schneider in 1911-12 , was a place of pleasure in the past. The premises were initially used as a restaurant with ballrooms , later as a ballroom and cinema. In the 1970s they were home to the “Cartoon” disco and then home to the “Galaxy” disco . After several years of vacancy, the current operators of the nightclub took on the smaller of the two listed halls in 2006 and awakened it to new splendor with extensive restoration in combination with a modern gastronomic experience.
