Institute for Child and Youth Welfare

The Institute for Child and Youth Welfare (IKJ) is a non-university, social science practice research facility.

structure

The institute was founded in 1995 and is based in Mainz . It is divided into two companies: the "IKJ Institute for Child and Youth Welfare gGmbH" and the "IKJ ProQualitas GmbH". The IKJ employs around 30 people under the direction of Michael Macsenaere .

The IKJ is an institutional member of the Society for Evaluation (DeGEVal) and is based on both the DeGEVal standards for evaluation and the recommendations of the German Research Foundation (DFG) to ensure good scientific practice.

Focus

The IKJ has the following main focuses:

  • Research that starts out from topics and concerns of social work and contributes to the preparation of political decisions;
  • Quality development through procedures that give the practice feedback on the results of their work and their background with the aim of supporting reflection and initiating change processes;
  • Advice and qualification that is geared to practical issues and enables the research results to be transferred to them;
  • Development of IT solutions for institutions in the social economy ;
  • Knowledge transfer through
    • Courses at universities , technical colleges and technical schools
    • Publications : Among other things, the IKJ publishes the series “European Studies on Youth Welfare”;
    • Specialist events: Participation and organization of national and international conferences, which are aimed at employees in the social economy, but also at politicians and scientists;
