Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) is an internationally oriented US-American society for operations research and management science based in Catonsville ( Maryland ). It emerged in 1995 from the merger of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA), founded in 1952, and The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS), founded in 1953 .

It awards various prizes such as the John von Neumann Theory Prize , the Frederick W. Lanchester Prize , the INFORMS Impact Prize , the Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Operations Research and the Management Sciences, and the Frank P. Ramsey Medal and the INFORMS Fellow award and publish various journals such as Mathematics of Operations Research , Operations Research , Information Systems Research , Interfaces , Manufacturing & Service Operation Management , INFORMS Journal on Computing , Marketing Science , Transportation Science , Organization Science , Service Science .
