Institution of Mechanical Engineers

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is a British engineering company similar to the Association of German Engineers (VDI) .

The association was founded in Birmingham in 1847 . Founding members were Charles Beyer , George Stephenson and others.

Since it was founded, "IMechE" had 120 presidents. The presidents have been elected for one year each year since 1922. Joseph Whitworth, John Penn and William Armstrong have presided over several times.
