Intaglio is a funeral doom band founded in 2004 .

history

Jevgenij Semenjow founded Intaglio together with the SCALP bassist Pavel Peristy in 2004. Semenjow soon founded the Russian Doom label Solitude Productions with Sergey Terentjev on which the duo's self-titled debut was the label's second release and also officially the first Russian Funeral Doom album appeared. The first release of a Russian funeral doom band on a regular label was subsequently seen as an important milestone in the development of the country-specific variant of the genre, the national doom metal music business and the national metal scene .

The album itself received little international attention when it was released and was judged by the few reviewers as an average genre work. Mike Liassides named the album for Doom-Metal.com in retrospect, an album that "exemplifies how hard the post-Soviet doom metal scene had to work to catch more than a decade" of genre history and business. The album, which "paved the way nationally" for the scene, was only a regular album in a well-known and established genre internationally. After the release, the duo stayed away for a long time. It was not until 2019 that another musical work by Intaglio appeared with the download single The Memory of Death .

style

The music played by Intaglio is assigned to Funeral Doom . The guitar playing varies between slow Doom Metal riffing and light and melodic lead playing . The singing is presented as a growling . Meanwhile, the conveyed atmosphere is less “depressed or gloomy” than usual in the genre. So Intaglio present a rather "entertaining, relaxed" variant of Funeral Doom.
