The Intel 8226 is a bidirectional 4-bit driver for the Intel-8080 / 8085 processors has been developed. The module is supplied in a 16-pin DIL housing . He was u. a. licensed to NEC and Siemens . If CE  ( C hip S elect ) is switched to GND , the module is selected. With DIEN  ( D ata i n en able ), the data flow direction is determined (0: DI → DB; 1: DB → DO). In contrast to the8216 - inverted .

For the Intel 8086 / 8087 / 8088 / 8089 processors was the 8287 developed as an inverting 8-bit drivers.
