InterCityLyn
InterCityLyn is the name of the fastest Danish passenger train connections (Lyntog), which only stop to a limited extent along the way. Danske Statsbaner operates these express trains, which complement the regular InterCity trains. The term InterCityLyn has been used since 1997 for this type of train, which was previously called Lyntog . The maximum permissible speed has been 180 km / h since 1998.
InterCityLyn network 2020
The InterCityLyn network has included the following route since December 15, 2019. Some trains do not run continuously in the morning and evening. The network is not operated with fixed lines and sets. In this way, trains can be assembled and shared as needed, as well as frequency and destinations can be constantly adjusted.
- Hourly service Københavns Lufthavn - Copenhagen H - Odense - Fredericia - Aarhus H - Aalborg
- Every two hours Fredericia - Sønderborg
- Every two hours Fredericia - Herning - Struer
- Twice a day Aarhus H - Viborg - Struer (only towards Struer, return as InterCity)
- Additional departures from Monday to Friday:
- Twice in the morning from Odense to Københavns Lufthavn
- Twice in the afternoon from København's Lufthavn to Odense
Train sets
The InterCityLyn network is operated with multiple units of the types MF , ER and MG :
- MF (IC3, InterCity) is a three-car diesel multiple unit that went into service in 1990. It has a rubber front nose and specially designed driver's cabs that can be folded away to enable the transition between two connected multiple units. The MF cover the main part of the InterCityLyn traffic and are used for all services.
- ER (IR4, InterRegional) is an electric multiple unit with four cars. The series is a further development of the MF series. Trains of types MF and ER can be used together in a train combination. The series was originally built as a regional train, but has also been used as an InterCity to Sønderborg since 1997, as unlike the other destinations, the entire route can be driven electrically here. ER are also used as local trains to Odense, Fredericia and Kolding.
- MG (IC4, InterCity) is a diesel multiple unit with four cars. It was intended to replace the MF series, but technical problems have meant that it is only used on a few descents.
