history

The company was founded in London in 1965 by Bruno Franzen (1942–2017) and Werner Frey under the company name Swiss Chalets and renamed Interhome in 1977 after a merger. The company was also known for trying to establish a paperless office .

In 1984 the company logo was introduced with the «migratory bird», which also serves as a distinguishing mark after the corporate design was updated in 2008. The company was already on the Internet in 1998, and online bookings have been possible since 1999. In 2009, the share of online bookings was around 60 percent. In 2011, Hotelplan announced the takeover of the German market leader Inter Chalet Ferienhaus on November 1, 2013. In 2015 Interhome celebrated its 50th anniversary with various anniversary activities. In the same year, the company headquarters in Switzerland took 6th place in the “Swiss Employer Awards” in the 50–99 employee category.

Tourists can now reserve these apartments and houses via the Booking and Airbnb platforms , Interhome's successor in the Internet age. In addition, Interhome properties can be rented through WeSki in France .
