The ISR International School on the Rhine (short form: ISR), formerly the International School on the Rhine in Neuss , is a private all-day school with a kindergarten in Neuss . She is English-speaking, co-educational , independent and cross-denominational. As a supplementary school accredited by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , it does not receive any public funds and is financed 100% from school fees.
history
ISR was founded by the Rhein-Kreis Neuss , the city of Neuss , the Middle Lower Rhine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and various international companies in 2003 as an International School on the Rhine in Neuss GmbH . In 2007 she moved into the campus at Neusser Stadtwald with a school building and a triple sports hall, which had been specially built for the ISR.
On December 3, 2013, the school filed for preliminary bankruptcy at the Düsseldorf District Court . On January 15, 2014, the continuation of the school was announced by a non-profit organization, and on August 1, 2014, the ISR was re-established as International School on the Rhine gGmbH under new management. School operations could continue without interruption during the transition period.
In 2018, ISR took over the neighboring Stadtwald district sports facility on the basis of a long lease. This increased the total size of the campus to 110,000 m 2 .
In addition to the kindergarten on the Neuss campus, another ISR kindergarten is to be opened in Düsseldorf - Niederkassel by the end of 2019 .
In January 2020 it was announced that the ISR will take over the Rhine island Nonnenwerth including the affiliated grammar school on August 1, 2020.
Education and degrees
The ISR is a member of the SABIS school network and is based on its educational concept. The language of instruction in school and kindergarten is English .
The following degrees are possible:
- ISR High School Diploma after the 12th grade
- US Advanced Placement Exams (AP) after the 12th grade
- International Baccalaureate (IB) after the 11th or 12th grade (recognized as a German general university entrance qualification )
