The International Ernst Wiechert Society eV (IEWG) is a literary association that deals with the German writer Ernst Wiechert (1887–1950) and wants to promote both the dissemination of his works and the academic discussion of them. The IEWG was founded on May 25, 1989 . It unites over 160 members from 13 nations.

The IEWG is a member of the Working Group of Literary Societies and Memorials .

Events

The association regularly organizes a scientific conference every two years with participants from several countries, most recently in 2013 in Mülheim / Ruhr, on specific topics in the work and environment of Ernst Wiechert. The 14th conference will take place in 2017. Additional events were held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the IEWG in 2014.

Society members also present Ernst Wiechert's work at events and readings.

Publications

The IEWG publishes "Ernst-Wiechert-Briefe" two to three times a year, as well as the IEWG-Mitteilungen (most recently no. 25 in 2016) and in the series "Writings of the IEWG" extensive collections of scientific articles on seriousness Wiechert research (so far 5 volumes).
