Cesti competition

The international singing competition for baroque opera Pietro Antonio Cesti is an international singing competition for young singers of baroque operas , which has been held since 2010 as part of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music . It is named after the Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti . The competition takes place annually in August and is divided into three rounds, the last being the public final with the ten best participants. The jury consists of around seven renowned representatives of the baroque opera world. The following prize money is awarded (as of 2014):

  • 1st prize: 4,000 euros
  • 2nd prize: 3,000 euros
  • 3rd prize: 2000 euros
  • Audience award: 1,000 euros

There are also special prizes in the form of engagements at renowned opera houses.
