Anna Maria Sarra (born December 27, 1988 in Bari ) is an Italian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Sarra studied in Madera, at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, in Pesaro and Bologna , among others . She attended master classes with Francisco Araiza , Bruno Bartoletti and Sonia Prina, among others .

In October 2008 the singer made her debut as Berenice in Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro at the Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa in Savona ; she would later sing this role at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon. This was followed by debuts in two Pergolesi operas at the Città dei Sasse opera festival in Madera: as Serpina in La serva padrona and as Scintilla in La contadina astuta . During Festival Operistico del Mediterraneo she sang for the first time Fanny in Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio and the project Opera Futura Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio . This production was seen in Reggio Emilia, Modena, Ferrara and Bologna. At the Teatro Guardassoni in Bologna she took on the title role in Wolf-Ferrari's Il segreto di Susanna and one of the two twin sisters in Chaillys Procedura Pendle . In 2009 she took part in a perfection course at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she made her debut as Delia in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims .

In 2011, three important debuts followed within a few months: Sarra took on Elena in Nino Rota's comic opera Il cappello di paglia di Firenze at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino , in Bologna she sang Micaëla in Georges Bizet's Carmen for the first time , and immediately afterwards in Ōtsu and Tokyo she sang Frasquita in same opera. In the Nino-Rota-Oper she alternately appeared and heard in two different roles - as Elena and as Anaide - also in Cremona, Savona, Brescia, Pavia and Rovigo.

At the 2012 Festival of Early Music in Innsbruck, she played Drusilla in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea . In the 2012/13 season the singer belonged to the Junge Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien and sang there in three Rossini productions: a Coryphée in Le comte Ory staged in the main house - alongside Pretty Yende and Cecilia Bartoli in the female lead, Cerere in Le nozze di Teti e di Peleo in concert with the Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi , as well as Fanny in La cambiale di matrimonio in the Dependance Wiener Kammeroper . In the chamber opera she also performed the Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème and the Dorinda in Handel's Orlando . During her engagement in Vienna, Sarra also performed three concerts.

In January 2014 the singer made her debut as Margret in Richard Strauss ' Feuersnot at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo , in October of the same year as Adina in Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.

Her concert repertoire includes the soprano solos in Pergolesi's Stabat mater and his Salve Regina , Bach's Mass in B minor , Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Elias , and Orff's Carmina Burana .
