International comic festival in Łódź

The International Comic Festival in Łódź ( Międzynarodowy Festiwal Komiksu w Łodzi ) is the largest event for comic art in Central and Eastern Europe with exhibitions, artist stands, seminars, panel discussions and a competition. The three-day festival has been held annually in the central Polish city of Łódź since 1991 and is organized by the city's cultural center ( Łódzki Dom Kultury ) and the Contur artists' society ( Stowarzyszenie Twórców Contur ). The director of the festival is Adam Radoń.

Anyone interested can take part in the competition that takes place during the festival, and the topic is also free. However, the condition is that the works have not yet been published. The work will be assessed by a jury in the categories of professionals and newcomers . Sometimes there are other categories.

Among the famous guests of the festival included, among others Grzegorz Rosiński , Stan Sakai , Marvano , Mawil , Pat Mills , Clint Langley , Zbigniew Kasprzak , Karel Saudek , Henryk Chmielewski , Tadeusz Baranowski , Janusz Christa , Bogusław Polch , Szarlota Pawel , Milo Manara , Bohdan Butenko , Jean Giraud , Brian Azzarello and Simon Bisley .

The City Stories project has been part of the festival since 2006 . Comics that deal with the city of Łódź are drawn and exhibited. The themes were First Tales ( Pierwsze opowieści ) in 2006 and Legends of Łódź in 2007 . Memories of the Mill Prince ( Łódzkie legendy. Pamięci Księżego Młyna ).
