Janusz Wiesław Kaleta (born October 11, 1964 in Łazy , Gmina Rzezawa , Poland ) is Bishop Emeritus of Karaganda .

Life

Janusz Kaleta studied at the Interdisciplinary Theological Institute for Bioethics of the Pontifical Theological Academy in Krakow and at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck . He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tarnów on June 4, 1989 by the Archbishop of Tarnów, Jerzy Karol Ablewicz , and initially worked in pastoral care, later as a research assistant at the Kraków Academy, where he also received his doctorate .

Pope John Paul II appointed him with the establishment of the Apostolic Administratur Atyrau in Kazakhstan on July 7, 1999 as its Apostolic Administrator . In 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as titular bishop of Phelbes . He was ordained bishop on November 23, 2006 in Rome by Cardinal Angelo Cardinal Sodano ; Co- consecrators were Wiktor Skworc , Bishop of Tarnów, and Henry Theophilus Howaniec OFM , Bishop of Almaty .

On February 5, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI called Janusz Kaleta as Bishop of Karaganda. Pope Francis accepted his resignation as Bishop of Karaganda on July 15, 2014. He was laicized on June 15, 2016 .
