The diocese of the Most Holy Trinity in Almaty ( Latin : Dioecesis Sanctissimae Trinitatis in Almata ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Almaty in Kazakhstan .
history
The forerunner of the diocese of the Most Holy Trinity in Almaty is the Apostolic Administration of Almaty, founded on July 1, 1999 by Pope John Paul II with the bull Ad aptius consulendum . Fr. Henry Theophilus Howaniec OFM was appointed first administrator and ordained bishop on October 15, 2000 in Almaty. On May 17, 2003 the administration was raised to a diocese with the bull Dilectae Almatensis . The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Astana .
