The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Astana ( Latin Archidioecesis Sanctae Mariae in Astanansis ) includes the Kazakh areas of Nur-Sultan (Astana until 2019) , Aqmola , Qostanai , Pavlodar and Northern Kazakhstan .
The ecclesiastical province of Astana extends over the whole of Kazakhstan . The office is in Nur-Sultan (Astana until 2019) .
history
On July 7, 1999, the Apostolic Administration of Astana was established with the bull Ad aptius consulendum . With the bull In Cazakistania fidelium, Pope John Paul II elevated her to archdiocese on May 7, 2003 and appointed the previous apostolic administrator of Astana, Tomasz Peta , archbishop .
