Mazabanes (also: Mozabanus , Mazabanis , Mazbenes or Megabezes ; † 260 ) was Bishop of Jerusalem as Alexander's successor . Around 251 he became a victim of Decius ' persecution of Christians . Little is known about Mazabanes. His death is placed by Eusebius of Caesarea in the reign of Emperor Gallienus , with a date before 264 most likely, since Mazabane's successor Hymenaios is listed as a participant in a council of Antioch that discussed the fall of Paul of Samosata this year falls. In general, 260 is most likely the year of Mazabane's death.
Its name suggests an origin from Syria .
