International indoor tournament Neubrandenburg

The international indoor tournament in Neubrandenburg (actually NGMB indoor tournament ) was the largest indoor tournament in GDR women's football . The organizer was the company sports association of VEB Nahrungsmittelgütermaschinenbau Neubrandenburg (BSG NGMB Neubrandenburg). Participating teams were usually the district champions of the GDR or district best as well as international guest teams.

The tournament was first played on September 17, 1972. Participants at the time were nine teams from Pasewalk , Teterow , Wesenberg , Ducherow , Neustrelitz , Güstrow and Szczecin as well as two teams from BSG Ascobloc Neubrandenburg, with the team from Poland (Mors Szczecin) winning the tournament. In the early years it was led by the exercise leader Woldemar Schernau, who was replaced in 1976 by section leader Werner Lenz.

From 1973 further teams were added, such as the top teams from the GDR, such as Turbine Potsdam , BSG Chemie Leipzig and BSG Post Rostock , and the top teams from Czechoslovakia and Poland. The number of spectators for the tournament, which is mostly held in the town hall in Neubrandenburg , reached 1,280 as early as 1976 and was subsequently at a similar level. The tournament lasted until 1990.
