The International Street Theater Festival Berlin laughs! is a German street theater festival that takes place annually on Alexanderplatz in Berlin .

Street theater projects have been organized in the cultural capital of Berlin since 2004 . The International Street Theater Festival Berlin laughs! provides the stage for those interested in street theater in Germany, Europe and the world. It addresses itself to passers-by and uses the public space as a stage.
The festival presents national and international street artists from different fields of art . The range of genres includes acrobatics , artistry , one-person theater , walking acts , puppet shows , beatboxers , cabaret , performance , installations , steampunk , dance, music, figure and mask theater and the new circus.
The various artists use Alexanderplatz as a stage and perform there at fixed venues.
A non-stop program on three different stages with free admission is planned for the 2018 Summer Tour.
history
Initiated by Berlin laughs! e. V., the first street theater festival took place in Berlin in 2004 under the name "Berlin laughs!" In the history of the street theater festival, artists from Switzerland, Great Britain, Kenya, Spain, Brazil etc. have made guest appearances in Berlin. The program of this festival consists of 630 shows on 4 stages, over 50 international artists perform on Alexanderplatz in summer. In 2017 it took place for the first time on Washingtonplatz at the main train station.
