The Jones Terrace is a striking and unvereiste terrace in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located south of Mount Peleus at the southern end of the eastern part of the Olympus Range . It rises 800 m above the bottom of the Wright Valley and reaches a maximum height of over 1000 m .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1997 after the geologist Lois Marilyn Jones (1934-2000) from the University of Georgia , who worked for the United States Antarctic Program in the Antarctic Dry Valleys between 1969 and 1970 and on November 19, 1969 as one of the first women to stand on the geographic South Pole.
