Into the Coven is a song by the Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate . Originally titled Love Criminals , it was the first song written by Mercyful Fate and appeared on her debut album Melissa in 1983 .

Music genre

The unison of the song "flirts with classical melodies". The piece is rather slow and can be assigned to heavy metal.

Text and controversy

The speaking authority asks the listener to join his coven and surrender his soul to Satan . 1985, after the dissolution of the band, the song appeared on the list of Filthy Fifteen of the Parents Music Resource Center with the designation O for occult text content.

Cover versions

The band Notre Dame covered Into the Coven in 1997 for the sampler Mercyful Fate Tribute . The Medley Mercyful Fate of Metallica's Garage Inc. from 1998 is based on Satan's Fall , Curse of the Pharaohs , A Corpse Without Soul , Into the Coven and Evil .
