Inverted Collar and Tie is a sculpture designed by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen in 1994. It is in Frankfurt am Main in the district Westend in the square in front of the skyscraper 1 Westendstraße of DZ Bank . The work of art was commissioned by DG Bank in 1993 . The sculpture was produced in California.

Inverted Collar and Tie is an oversized shirt collar with a tie , which is reversed on a rectangular base. The tie spreads its ends upwards, fluttering slightly in the wind. The base is colored dark gray, the tie is light gray with dark gray stripes. The dimensions of the work of art are 11.9 by 8.5 by 3.9 meters, it weighs 7.5 tons. The sculpture consists of polymer concrete , steel and glass fiber reinforced plastic .

The work of art is an ironic allusion to the office workers wearing “ties and collars” in the surrounding Frankfurt banking district , who also work in the client's office tower.

In 2013 the outer skin of the sculpture was restored on site.
