Ion Ansotegi Gorostola (born July 13, 1982 in Berriatua , Basque Country ) is a former Spanish soccer player who last played for RCD Mallorca .

Career

Ion Ansotegi started his career as a footballer with SD Eibar in his Basque homeland. There he first played in the B team before he was promoted to the second division team of the Eibars for the 2001/02 season. After only a single appearance in the entire season, Ansotegi first went to third division club FC Barakaldo , where he scored two goals in 17 appearances.

In the summer of 2003 Ion Ansotegi went to the B team of the first division Real Sociedad , where he was active as a regular player for the next two years. With his performances, the defender was able to play himself in the foreground, so that he was brought up to the first team in 2005. Although he has played regularly for the "Txuri Urdin" since then, he was never able to earn a regular place. Even after relegation in the 2006/07 season, he remained loyal to his club.
